SepiaLedger

A collector’s ledger for cigars

The ledger that remembers what you liked, reminds you when it matters, and picks tonight’s cigar.

Sepia Ledger keeps your collection, humidor by humidor, and a journal of every cigar you smoke.

Then $5 a month, or $40 a year.

Home on a phone: today’s date, a cigar picked for tonight and the humidors
A smoke’s page on a phone: the verdict, a score of 94 and the tasting notes

A look inside

Everything the humidor can’t tell you.

Four pages do the work.

The collection

Every cigar, in every humidor.

Brand, line, vitola, size and wrapper; how many, what you paid, and how long each has been resting. Search the shelf by any of it, sort it the way you think about it.

  • As many humidors as you keep
  • What the collection is worth
  • A breakdown by brand, vitola and wrapper

Log a smoke

A verdict, not just a number.

A score says how good it was. The ladder asks what you’d pay for another one right now, which is what decides what you buy next.

  • Buying a box, buying singles, if the price is right, only if offered, never again
  • Take one off the shelf, or log a cigar smoked somewhere else

The cigar’s page

At the humidor, know what you thought last time.

Every cigar gathers its smokes on one page: how many times, what you said each time, and how many are still resting at home. Standing in the shop about to buy another box, the answer is in your pocket.

  • Every verdict and score
  • How long it rested before each one
  • Where you bought it and what it cost
A cigar’s page on a phone: smoked three times with each verdict

Past smokes

A journal that adds up.

Every smoke, by month, and what the verdicts come to. Search it for a note you half remember, and keep a hand-ranked top 25 for the year.

  • The verdicts, counted, with what stands out
  • Search cigars, verdicts and notes
  • A top 25 of the year, in your own order
Past smokes on a phone: the verdicts counted and the latest smokes

And the rest

It gives back more than you put in.

  • Notes with a date on them

Rotate the cigars, swap the humidity packs, come back to one once it’s rested. The ledger emails you that morning.

  • Pick a cigar for me

Can’t decide? The ledger takes one off the shelf at random — any size, or the size you have time for.

  • A year ago today

Home brings back what you were smoking this day last year, and what you said about it.

  • Resting longest

The cigar that’s waited longest on the shelf, and exactly how long it’s been.

  • Share any page

Turn sharing on once and send any smoke to whoever asked. Turn it off and every link closes.

  • What it’s worth

What you paid, cigar by cigar and humidor by humidor. Rather not know? One switch hides it.

On your phone

Made for one hand, at the humidor.

The same ledger on the phone in your hand and the screen on your desk, with nothing to install. Add it to your home screen and it opens like any other app.

Sharing

Every smoke gets a page worth sending.

Verdict, score and notes by the third, set like a notebook page. Turn on sharing and send the link to the friend who asked what you’ve been smoking, or to the group chat. Turn it off and every link closes.

Your journal is yours alone until you say otherwise. There is no public list of it, and nothing is shared that you didn’t send.

Questions

Before you start.

Anything else, write to us at the address at the foot of the page.

Can I look around before I sign up?

Yes. The sample ledger is stocked with two humidors, a journal of smokes and a few notes, and open to anyone. No account, no card.

Is there an app to download?

No download, and no app store. Sepia Ledger runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer. On a phone, add it to your home screen and it opens full-screen like any other app.

How does the trial work?

A card starts it, and nothing is charged for 14 days. Cancel before then and you won’t pay a cent. After that it’s $5 a month or $40 a year.

What happens to my ledger if I cancel?

It stays yours, open to read. Renew whenever you like and you can write in it again, with everything where you left it.

What is the founder lifetime plan?

One payment of $100 and the ledger is yours for good, with nothing to renew. It’s open to the first 50 keepers only.

Can I log a cigar I didn’t buy?

Yes. Log a smoke from your own shelf, or note one smoked at a lounge or handed to you by a friend. Either way it gets a verdict and a page in the journal.

Who can see my journal?

Only you, until you turn on sharing in Settings. Then each page has a link for whoever you send it to. Turn sharing off and every link stops working at once.

Why it exists

I tried a notebook, then a spreadsheet, then a camera roll full of cigar bands. Each one held what I’d written down, and none of them gave it back when I needed it: at the shop counter, or at the humidor deciding what to light.

So I built the ledger I wanted for myself. Now I’m opening it to other keepers.
